Spring 2020 Registration Is Now Open

Below is some general information about the various baseball divisions.  Softball is administered by Northwest Forsyth American Little League.  All softball players within the WSNLL boundaries will need to register through WSNLL and will then be added to the NWFALL rosters.  If you have any questions about this process, please feel free to contact [email protected]

Tee ball: Tee ball is the entry level division for players.  This division is appropriate for beginners, league age 4-6.  Practices are approximately 45 minutes to an hour long one night per week with one 1-hour game on Saturdays.

Single A: Single A is machine-pitch baseball, utilizing a manually controlled pitching machine that provides consistent pitches at a lower speed. This division is appropriate for players, league age 6-7, who have played at least one season of tee ball.  Players in this division are still learning to throw, catch and field ground balls and do not need to possess an understanding of the rules of baseball.  Practices are approximately 1 to 1.5 hours long one night per week with two 1.5-hour games per week, one on a weeknight and one on Saturday.

AA: is machine-pitch baseball, utilizing a manually controlled pitching machine that tops out around 40-45 mph.  This division is appropriate for players, league age 7-9, who can throw, catch and field ground balls.  Players in this division are still learning to catch pop-ups and should possess a basic understanding of the rules of baseball.  Practices are approximately 1.5 hours long one night per week with two 1.5-hour games per week, one on a weeknight and one on Saturday.

AAA: is the first division of kid-pitch baseball and is appropriate for players, league age 8-11, who can throw, catch, field ground balls and catch pop-ups.  Players in this division should understand the rules of baseball, particularly since this is the first division in which stealing is permitted.  Practices are approximately 2 hours long one night per week with two 2-hour games per week, one on a weeknight and one on Saturday.

Major: The Major division is appropriate for solid players, league age 10-12, who have a decent understanding of the rules of baseball.  Regardless of skill level, players who are league age 12 must play in the Major division per Little League rules.  Practices are approximately 2 hours long one night per week with two 2-hour games per week, one on a weeknight and one on Friday evening.

Junior: The Junior division is appropriate for players, league age 13-14.  Practices and games are held on various weekdays and on Saturdays and the teams will play against other Little Leagues within our district.

For children who have never played with WSNLL before and whose parents are unsure what division is appropriate, we would suggest choosing the lower division of the ones you are considering and the player may get moved up following evaluations.
