Softball - Spring 2025

Our softball players play at Northwest Forsyth Little League. You must sign up with us if you live or go to school in our zone and we will send your information to Northwest. They will contact you with information after teams have been formed. Northwest's registrations close in early February and evaluations will take place at Northwest. If you have any questions about the softball program, please contact Northwest's Player Agent, Katie Simos, at [email protected]

Tee Ball Softball:
Tee Ball Softball is for girls 4-5 years old (with a local option for 6- and/or 7-year-olds) who want to learn the fundamentals of hitting and fielding. In Tee Ball Softball, players hit a ball off a batting tee. Rules of the game may be varied to accommodate the need for teaching and should focus on fun, fitness, and fundamentals. The primary goals of Tee Ball Softball are to instruct children in the fundamentals of softball and to allow them to experience the value of teamwork.

Minor League Softball Division:
Minor League Softball is for participants 5-11 years old and can be operated with multiple divisions that are based on age and/or ability. Divisions may include “machine pitch,” “coach pitch” and “player pitch.” By local option, a player who is league age 5 or 6 for the current season and has played a year in Tee Ball is eligible for the coach pitch or machine pitch divisions. A local league might organize its 7-8-year-olds in the Coach Pitch Division and its 9-10-year-olds in the Player Pitch division; however, by local option, some of the 9-year-olds could “play down” in the coach pitch division, and some of the 8-year-olds could “play up.” This is entirely the choice of the local league board of directors. (League age 12-year-olds may participate in the Minor Division under certain circumstances.) There is no minimum or maximum composition for rosters, but most leagues have rosters in the 8-12 range. Competitive divisions of Minor League Softball may only use nine players on defense. The diamond has 60-foot base paths and a 35 foot pitching distance.

Majors Division Softball:
The Little League Softball® division (sometimes known as the Major Division) is for players ages 9-12. A local league may choose to limit its Major Division to 10-, 11- and 12-year-olds, or 11-12-year-olds. The field uses a 60-foot diamond and a 40 foot pitching distance. A local league may dual-roster 12-year-olds, assessed capable, to a Major and a Junior division softball teams.

Junior League Softball Division:
The Junior League Softball division is a program for players ages 12-14, and uses a conventional 60-foot diamond with a 43 foot pitching distance.

Senior League Softball Division:
The Senior League Softball Division is for girls 13-16 years old, using a 60-foot diamond with a pitching distance of 43 feet.

Baseball - Spring 2025

We are looking forward to another great season of baseball!

We will have six divisions this Spring -- t-ball, machine pitch (which includes both Single A and AA), player pitch (which includes both AAA and Majors), and Juniors (ages 13+).

  • T-ball will be a combined practice/game and will play on Saturdays only. (Ages 4-7)

  • Single A and AA teams (machine pitch) will play games on Wednesday and Saturday. They will practice one additional day per week (coach picks day and time based on his/her availability). (Ages 5-10)

  • AAA teams (player pitch) will play on Monday and Thursday. They will practice one additional day per week (coach picks day and time based on his/her availability). (Ages 8-12)

  • Majors teams (player pitch) will play games on Tuesdays and Fridays. They will practice one additional day per week (coach picks day and time based on his/her availability). (Ages 8-12)

  • Juniors teams will be fielded If we have enough players register. The team will play interleague against other teams in the district. This will involve travel to other leagues and the schedule is set by the district. (Ages 12-14)

Evaluations are MANDATORY for all machine pitch and player pitch registrants and will take place on February 16th and 22nd (weather depending) with a makeup date of February 23rd at The Bridge (the Winston-Salem National Little League fields located at 5542 Phillips Bridge Rd. in Winston-Salem). Evaluations are used as a tool to assist the league in making teams and divisions more balanced. Please register for the level you think is appropriate for your child (machine pitch vs kid pitch).

After evaluations take place, the league will use evaluation data to assign players to a specific division (Single A, AA, AAA or Majors). Once division assignments occur, a draft will take place for each division. It is for this reason that we do not accommodate teammate requests at any level other than t-ball.

Practices will begin the week of March 3rd and games will begin the week of March 24th.. Regular season games will end the week of May 12th and playoffs for the Single A through Majors divisions will take place the first week of May 19th.

When registering, please include contact information for both parents as this information will be used for all league communication. This is done under "Additional Account Holders."

Our league is entirely volunteer-run. If we do not have enough volunteer coaches, we reserve the right to cancel any division that does not have an adequate number of coaches. No matter your experience level, if you have any interest in coaching, please sign up! It's a great way to get involved in the league and to spend time with your kids and their friends.
