8U Nats win opening game of State Tournament

The 8U Nats fought back to defeat Lake Norman Blue 10-8 in their opening round game.

The Nats faced three-run deficit heading into the top half of the sixth inning and plated five runs as Clayton Piersol's go ahead fielder's choice was followed by Pitcher John Lynch's one-run double to provide the needed insurance run. The Nats got started with a line drive double by First Baseman William Townsend that was followed by hits by Shortstop Greyson Allen, Catcher Will Tabacca, Third baseman Ben Gauder and Right Field Mason Booher.

Allen provided solid defense throughout the game, added one hit and one RBI.

Gauder, Lynch, Townsend and Short Fielder Luke Sullivan added two hits apiece, and outfielders Bo Braden and Ryan Atkins had two timely RBIs respectively.

The 8U Nats will play Saturday, July 6 at 9:00 AM.
